Mark L. Lessne, MD: A native of South Florida, Dr. Lessne participated in the combined undergraduate and medical school program at Boston University, studying mathematics, chemistry, and theatre arts and subsequently obtaining his medical doctorate. He completed radiology residency and vascular & interventional radiology fellowship at Duke University, serving as chief resident. Dr. Lessne was Assistant Professor of Radiology at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, where he still holds an adjunct faculty appointment and is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology.
Now an Associate Professor of Radiology at Wake Forest University and staff Vascular & Interventional Radiologist at Vascular & Interventional Specialists of Charlotte Radiology, Dr. Lessne focuses on the evaluation and treatment of patients with peripheral artery disease and critical limb ischemia, complex lower extremity and thoracic venous disease, end stage renal disease and IVC filters. He serves on the executive board of the Society of Interventional Radiology. He is the author of 50 peer reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and has served as PI and Investigator on clinical trials studying TIPS creation, prostate and uterine artery embolization, and IVC filters. Dr. Lessne otherwise keeps busy with 3 children and his wife, a gastroenterologist in Charlotte.
