Misty Dawn Humphries, MD, MAS, DFSVS, FACS, is an academic vascular surgeon and physician-leader at the University of California, Davis. She currently serves as Interim Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery, Director of the UC Davis Vascular Center, and Director of the Advanced Wound Care Center. Her clinical expertise includes complex peripheral artery disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, and the use of advanced endovascular and open surgical techniques to treat arterial and venous disorders.
Her research is nationally recognized, with funding from the National Institutes of Health to study limb preservation and healthcare disparities in patients with peripheral artery disease. She focuses on improving access to vascular care for rural and underserved populations through innovative use of telemedicine and collaborative wound care models. Dr. Humphries has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing critical limb ischemia, healthcare equity, and cost-effective vascular care.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Humphries has received multiple teaching awards and serves as a role model for diversity and inclusion in the field of surgery. She has held national leadership roles, including President of the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society (VESS). She is a frequent speaker on topics related to health equity, resilience in surgery, and advancing women in the medical field.
